RoboCop is set to return on the big screen! Co-creator Ed Neumeier revealed that “they have me working on a new one at MGM right now so maybe we’ll get another one out of it” he told Zeitgeist Magazine. “We’re not supposed to say too much. There’s been a bunch of other RoboCop movies and there was recently a remake and I would say this would be kind of going back to the old RoboCop we all love and starting there and going forward. So it’s a continuation really of the first movie. In my mind. So it’s a little bit more of the old school thing”.
Neumeier co-wrote and produced the original film, but was not much involved with the sequels – which they never had the same critic scores with the first one.
With his co-writer/creator Michael Miner they submitted a draft for a sequel back in 1988 (which was called RoboCop: The Corporate Wars) but it was scrapped. The plot was taking place 25 years after the events of the first one.
Which it makes sense to have it now. almost 30 something years after the original release.
